Runners come from all around to participate in Seminole County Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Riverside Dash, arguably the premier 15K race in the southeast. While many come for the scenic run along side the St. John’s River, or the live music and great food, the Riverside Dash means so much more to the Seminole County community.
For a third year in a row, the Riverside Dash will be donating a portion of the proceeds to The Foundation of Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS). For every runner who registers for the race, a portion will go toward the Foundation. The more runners that register, the more money will be raised for The Foundation!
Last year, the Seminole County Regional Chamber of Commerce through the Riverside Dash raised $4,000 for The Foundation. This was following a donation of $3,000 in 2014. This upcoming 2016 race is expecting even more runners to participate, in hopes of beating last year’s donation.
The funds will be used to help The Foundation’s quest to ensure Seminole County students are provided with the opportunity to better their academic performance. The Foundation of Seminole County Public Schools is actively involved within the community, recognizing contributions to better education and rewarding superior performance within the school system. Their goal is to:
- Provide an increase in academic achievement by students
- Remove barriers that hinder the productivity of students’ ability to learn
- Invest in staff development needed to achieve high performances within the school district
The fifth annual Riverside Dash will take place on April 2, 2017. Starting in Sanford, FL’s Fort Mellon Park, the 15k’s flat road course through the historical city of Sanford is an opportunity for runners from around the world to achieve personal bests. In addition to the 15k, the event also features a 5k race and the Nemours Kids Dash.
Registration for the 15k and 5k will open on October 30, 2016 at 12:00 AM. Registration for the Nemours Kids Dash will open December 9, 2016 at 2:16 PM.
